About Us
Canopy is developing innovative software to support nationwide social impact programs. Our clients are rock stars! They are dedicated to community-focused programs, including cooperative extension, 4-H, and SNAP-Ed. We build systems to make their jobs a little easier and to help understand what works, what doesn’t, and what could be improved.
We are a team of 12 primarily technology professionals who love working together and believe strongly in our core values of service, humility, honesty, curiosity, grit, and innovation. We recently rolled out of Kansas State University into a new public benefit company based in Manhattan, KS.
Our team is growing! We’re seeking to fill several new positions and looking for individuals who love to serve and are excited about our work. We’re still working on a website and marketing material, so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Your Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to help drive expansion and ongoing improvements to our flagship product, the Program Evaluation and Reporting System (PEARS). PEARS is used daily by nutrition education and cooperative extension professionals around the country. It was also recently selected by USDA as the national reporting system for SNAP-Ed.
You will work to understand client needs and coordinate and plan updates in collaboration with our software engineers and client success specialists. You’ll also manage and organize issues within Jira while ensuring priority tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Our software development cycle begins with a team-wide “pitch” meeting every two months. This is followed by a 6-week development cycle (sprint), then a 2-week buffer period. You’ll help provide context about client needs and priorities during the planning stage, then take lead on documenting, organizing, and managing our backlog. Ultimately, you’ll help ensure we consistently deliver value to our clients and provide solutions to their most pressing needs.
Top candidates will be excellent communicators, extremely organized, and obsessed with follow-through. A strong technical background is also desirable in order to accurately assess workload during the planning phase.
